'Virat Kohli Said, "You'll Never Hear My Name.."'- Naveen Ul Haq
Naveen Ul Haq has now revealed the details of his conversation with Virat Kohli during the group match of the ICC World Cup 2023 between India and Afghanistan. The Indian cricket team’s barrage has been invincible at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
With ten straight wins in the tournament, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team has entered the final of the World Cup 2023 as the only unbeaten team. In the ten matches that they won, the match against Afghanistan saw something unexpected.
The match had a sub-plot with Virat Kohli facing off with Afghan pacer Naveen Ul Haq for the first time after their verbal spat in the Indian Premier League 2023. Virat Kohli, while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, indulged in a heated argument with Naveen Ul Haq during the IPL 2023 match between RCB and LSG. Fans were excited to watch their highly-anticipated clash. In fact, Naveen Ul Haq was often taunted by ‘Kohli’ chants in the stadiums. However, the two made peace during the match between India and Afghanistan.

“He said, ‘Let’s finish it?’, I said, ‘Yes, let’s finish it’ so we we laughed about it, we hugged and we moved on. He said, ‘Now after this, you won’t hear my name’ or something he said [and that], ‘You’ll only get support from the crowd’. I said yeah (smiles),” Naveen said in a video shared by his IPL team Lucknow Super Giants.
“I will stand for my teammate. That’s why we are a team.” Naveen Ul Haq also appreciated the support that the Afghanistan cricket team received in India and said that it made them feel like they were playing at home.
“We’ve got support from, I think, every game. In just that one game we played against India in Delhi we didn’t get any support (smiles). [Apart from that], we got a home kind of a feeling in every game,” he said.
India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli slammed his 50th ODI century against the Kiwis in the semi-finals to script a new all-time record. During the Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-final clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Virat Kohli scored a century to achieve this huge milestone. After completing his century, Kohli bowed down to his idol Sachin Tendulkar, who was sitting in the stands. Tendulkar too acknowledged Virat’s gesture as he clapped and hailed his successor for achieving the feat.
Mohammad Kaif Praises Virat Kohli For His Gesture Towards Sachin Tendulkar
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif was highly impressed with Kohli’s gesture towards Tendulkar after the 50th ODI ton. He praised Virat and recalled when he lifted Sachin on his shoulders after the win in the 2011 World Cup finals.
“Look after the 2011 World Cup Virat carried his guru Sachin Tendulkar on his shoulders saying, Sachin’s carried the burden of the nation for 21 years, and it’s now our time to do the same for him. After winning that World Cup, his journey started.”
And now on that very same ground, he’s broken Sachin’s record in front of Sachin himself, and after breaking the record Virat also acknowledged Sachin and even went down on his knees to pay respects to his hero and the master of the game. This shows the nature and character of Virat Kohli,” Kaif told Star Sports.
Virat Kohli has also broken Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most runs in a single edition of the World Cup. Sachin scored 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup while Virat amassed 711 runs in the 2023 edition with an average of 101.57 in ten innings.
India will face Australia in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, November 19. Australia will be looking to extend their record by winning a sixth ODI World Cup title while India will hope to clinch the World Cup title for a third time.
