India skipper Virat Kohli has shared one of his tweets from 2010 after bagging the top honours at the ICC Awards of The Decade on Monday. The 32-year old was named as the ICC ODI and the Male Cricketer of the Decade. Earlier on Sunday, Virat Kohli was named as the captain of the ICC Test Team of the Decade award and was also a part of the T20I and ODI teams of the decade.

Virat Kohli has been the most prolific batsman this decade and has scored heavily across formats against all the opposition and in all the conditions. He has accumulated 20,396 runs in the time period recorded by ICC for the award, which the highest amongst all cricketers in the world. Overall, Virat Kohli has enjoyed a very prolific career so far.

Having made his debut in international cricket as a teenager in 2008, Virat Kohli has gathered 12040 runs in ODIs, 7318 runs in Tests and 2928 runs in T20 Internationals, averaging more than 50 across the three formats. And Virat Kohli must be delighted with his efforts and must be satisfied with his efforts after setting a target for himself in 2010.

Hours after receiving the prestigious awards, Virat Kohli shared a tweet from 2010 in which he had set a target for himself. In fact, the tweet had gone viral before the India batting star shared it as it read: “Looking forward to scoring lots of runs for my Team..”

Along with sharing the tweet, he also shared a statement in which he thanked his family, coach, friends and well-wishers for their support throughout the years. He also thanked the ICC for the recognition as well as those who voted for him.

“I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MY FAMILY, MY COACH, MY FRIENDS AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE STOOD BY ME THROUGH THIS DECADE AND THE BCCI FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO REPRESENT MY COUNTRY WHICH HAS BEEN A GREAT HONOUR FOR ME TO DO SO OVER ALL THESE YEARS. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE ICC FOR THIS RECOGNITION AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR ME AT THE ICC AWARDS OF THE DECADE,” wrote Virat Kohli.

Talking about his old tweet, Virat Kohli wrote:

“SHARING THIS TWEET I PUT OUT 10 YEARS AGO, WHICH WAS A HOPEFUL ONE, I’VE REALISED THROUGH THIS JOURNEY THAT IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND PLAY SPORT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS, NO DREAM IS TOO BIG TO ACHIEVE. REGARDLESS OF THE CHALLENGES AND OBSTACLES, YOU WILL KEEP MOVING FORWARD WITH THIS BELIEF AND SEE YOUR DREAMS TURN INTO REALITY. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.”
