India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma made his stance very clear after the devastating home Test series defeat against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

Rohit Sharma said that he won't overreact but will definitely have conversations with 'certain individuals' regarding the expectations the team management has from them.

New Zealand Beat India In 1st & 2nd Test To Seal The Series

The Black Caps stunned Rohit Sharma & Co. in the Bengaluru Test by 8 wickets before winning the Pune Test by 113 runs to seal the series. One match is still remaining in Wankhede, and it will be important for India to clinch a victory to make their case strong for the ICC World Test Championship final.

However, before the Wankhede Test, India's confidence was totally shattered by the Kiwis as the visitors ended the 18-series winning streak of the hosts in home Tests, which started in the 2012-13 season. Notably, no other team had won more than ten successive Test series at home and India's defeat against New Zealand put an end to a historic streak.

Heading into the series, New Zealand had an awful record in India as they had won just two Test matches - in Nagpur in 1969 and in Mumbai in 1988. But now they have clinched their first-ever Test series win against India on Indian soil. This was also New Zealand's first bilateral series win away from home in the World Test Championship history.

I was just watching the television, out of the 54 Test matches, we have won 42, that is nearly 80 percent - Rohit Sharma

Speaking to reporters after the match, Rohit Sharma said that he doesn't want to put the players under pressure by reacting differently and bragged about India's home dominance in the past decade.

"I just said it, because of these three sessions, I am not going to react differently. Look at the number of games we have won in India. I was just watching the television, out of the 54 Test matches, we have won 42, that is nearly 80 per cent. There are more good things that have happened than bad things. I don't want to react so much that guys within the team start thinking that something different is happening. I don't want to create that kind of environment where people start doubting themselves."

"For good 12 years, we had that great run, which meant we were doing many good things. Just because we have lost this series, I don't think there is anything that we need to do differently or talk differently but yeah, we need to find ways to come out of those situations where we were put under pressure.

"I don't need to open a medical kit and start doing different things. It is important to understand that this team has done pretty good things in the past," he added.

But you need to have a quiet chat with certain individuals - Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma further stated that he will be having conversations with certain players in the team about where they stand at the moment but won't go through their innings to identify mistakes.

"You don't need to overreact. But you need to have a quiet chat with certain individuals and let them know where they are at and what, as a team, we require from them," said Rohit.

"I don't think you need to make them sit in a team room on a one-on-one basis and go through their innings and tell them this is what you should be doing. I don't think this is the right forum to do that."

Also, Rohit Sharma revealed that they were quite confident of chasing the 359-run target on the Pune pitch, but the continuous pressure didn't allow them to do that.

"We came out thinking that we can chase that target, but the continuous pressure from both sides, meant that we could not respond to those challenges," said Rohit.
