Former India batter Navjot Singh Sidhu has shared his views on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s future in T20 cricket. Many believe that both the batters’ days in the shortest format of the game are numbered.

In January this year, they were recalled to the T20 team after a gap of more than one year. Both the batters had last played in the 2022 T20 World Cup and did not play a single T20I in 2023. The way things unfolded in 2023, it looked highly likely that neither of them would play any T20I again. However, both of them starred with the bat in the 2023 ODI World Cup and were recalled for the three-match home series against Afghanistan in January.

With Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli’s T20 future being the talk of the town, Navjot Singh Sidhu was recently asked about the same. In reply, the former batsman stated that both batters will be needed when India participate in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the USA and West Indies.

“They will be needed there. These are giants of cricketing world. Form is like the morning dew, it can elude you but class of these people has stamp of authority,” Navjot Singh Sidhu was quoted as saying by PTI.

Navjot Singh Sidhu hails Virat Kohli:

Speaking further, Navjot Singh Sidhu hailed Virat Kohli as the greatest Indian batsman for the way he has maintained his fitness. He also praised both Kohli and Rohit for the way they adapt to all three formats of the game.

“I would rate Kohli as the greatest Indian batsman for the simple reason, his fitness, he is getting fitter with age like old wine does. Technically very sound and he has the uncanny knack of adapting to all three formats, same goes for Rohit,” said Navjot Singh Sidhu.

“Both are quality players. I am not sure about Rohit’s fitness levels. With age you tend to slow down, your reflexes tend to go. Sehwag with those glasses, his reflexes were not the same, I saw it in the IPL,” he added.

Before playing in the T20 World Cup, both Rohit and Kohli will be playing in the IPL. While Kohli will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rohit will be plying his trade for Mumbai Indians.
