Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, has expressed disappointment and shock at Virat’s unceremonious stripping as the ODI captain of the India National Cricket Team. Virat Kohli has notably been the centre of all the unwanted things in Indian cricket for the last couple of months. The entire fiasco began when Virat announced his decision to step down as India’s T20 captain after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

India’s poor show at the T20 World Cup closed all the doors of Virat Kohli for sustaining his ODI captaincy despite him publically stating his will to do so until the 2023 ODI World Cup.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly stated that he had asked Virat to not step down as the T20 captain and when he didn’t adhere to it, the selectors were of the opinion that he could not be the ODI captain and thus, he was stripped of the ODI captaincy by mentioning a line in a press release for the Test squad for South Africa tour.

In a press conference attended by Virat before taking off for South Africa, he quashed all such claims and stated that his decision to step down as the T20 captain was accepted without any apprehension and nobody asked him to not step down.

Virat Kohli’s Childhood Coach Rajkumar Sharma Opens Up On The Entire Fiasco

“This is definitely shocking and this is news to me as well that Virat Kohli said something like this in the press conference. What comment should I give, about why it has happened and why such a thing should not have happened,” Rajkumar Sharma stated.

“I would not like to comment too much on this. I will only want to say that they are the authority and whatever decision they have taken, they would have taken it thoughtfully and my statement about this does not hold any significance, whether they have done right or wrong.,” Rajkumar stated.

There Shouldn’t Have Been Such A Communication Gap Sys Rajkumar Sharma

“This is something unusual I have heard, I didn’t see Virat’s press conference as well. This communication gap should not have happened. According to me, there should be transparency between them and I don’t know why this has happened or why such a communication gap was there.”

“Virat never wants to step aside from playing, he is always ready to play. This news was certainly surprising that he has asked for leave because of his daughter’s birthday. Her birthday is on the 11th and at that time he will be playing the Test match,” Rajkumar concluded.
