There Is A Hell Of A Difference Between The Two Players - Mudassar Nazar
Speaking to news agency PTI, Mudassar Nazar said that fans often compare Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, but there is a hell of a difference between the two players. Mudassar said that Kohli is one of the greatest to play the game, and his achievements set him apart from Babar.
"I mean, there is a hell of a difference between the two players. Virat will be remembered as one of the greatest who has graced the game. Babar has still got to make a name for himself," Mudassar told PTI.
Virat Kohli's cricket career has been extraordinary since his debut in 2008. He has transformed the game with his consistency, determination, and ability to thrive under pressure. He became the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs during India's 2-0 Test series victory against Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Babar Azam made his debut for Pakistan in 2015. The right-handed batter has been struggling to deliver across three formats for over a year. He recently stepped down from Pakistan’s white-ball captaincy. Babar has delivered standout performances but not to Kohli’s legacy.
Love To Watch Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli - Mudassar Nazar
The 68-year-old also expressed admiration for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, stating that he enjoys watching him. Mudassar highlighted that Sharma and Kohli's peak performances are a joy to witness, making it easy to spend hours in front of the TV just watching them play.
"I love to watch Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. When they are at their peak and playing well, it is fantastic to watch them. You could sit in front of the TV for hours and just watch those two play," Mudassar added.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played key roles in India's victory at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit was the team's highest scorer in the tournament, amassing 257 runs in eight innings. Kohli scored 76 runs off 59 balls in the final match. The duo announced their retirement from T20Is after the final win.
We Should Have Given Him A Longer Term - Mudassar Nazar
The former Pakistan head coach criticized the current state of the Pakistan cricket team after Babar Azam's resignation as white-ball captain. Mudassar advocated for stability by saying that the new captain should be given a longer run rather than being replaced immediately.
"It is our own doing (the friction between Babar and Shaheen). We shouldn't have messed around with the set-up," Mudassar said.
"There was one set captain, we should have given him a longer term and if somebody else had been made a captain, then he should have had a decent go at it. And not been thrown out straight away."
