Virat Kohli's failure mentioned as Ramiz Raja hails Rohit Sharma for making India 'large-hearted' with attacking batting

Former PCB chief Ramiz Raja has praised the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for the knock that he played in the semi-final against England in Guyana. His knock helped India set the platform and ultimately win the match. 

Despite losing Virat Kohli in the third over, Rohit carried on playing with his attacking instincts. He scored 57 off 39 balls with six fours and two sixes. He took on Adil Rashid as well and played all kinds of attacking shots. He took on all the bowlers before being dismissed by Rashid. However, by then, he had laid the platform for India.

Ramiz Raza while reviewing the match on his YouTube channel, spoke about Rohit's innings and the shots that he played during his knock. 

"Mushkil pitch ke upar badi badi shots kheli unhone, lajawaab batting ki, jab chahte hain impossible angle se badi strokes lagate hain (he played big shots on a difficult track and can hit big strokes from impossible angles whenever he wants to). "When a captain plays like that, the team becomes large-hearted. Despite Virat Kohli's failure, he did not stop attacking at the other end," Ramiz said.

He further praised the Indin bowling attack and especially the Indian spinners for spreading the web around the England batters. None of the England batters were able to read any of the Indian spinners. Ramiz Raja said that India's spin trio broke the back of the England batting lineup. 

"Bhartiya spinners ne kamar tod ke rakh di England batting ki. Par uss se pehle jo mela sajaya woh Rohit Sharma ne sajaya. Kya aala innings kheli hai (Indian spinners broke the back of England batting, but before that the stage was set by Rohit Sharma; what a brilliant innings he played)," said former Pakistan captain Ramiza Raja on his YouTube channel.

The former Pakistan skipper had special praise for Suryakumar Yadav as well who scored 47 crucial runs for India and added 73 runs together with Rohit. 

"Suryakumar Yadav, the bigger the match the bigger is his performance. I haven't seen more imaginative T20 batsman than him because the angles he creates no other batsman can at the moment in the world," he said.

Ramiz Raja Backs India To Win T20 World Cup

Raja concluded by saying that India look the better of the two teams in the final because they have all bases covered. India and South Africa both are unbeaten in this tournament so far. India have won seven games while South Africa have won eight. The winning run for one of these two teams will end in the final. 

"They have the self-confidence, bowling resources, a good captain, temperament is rock solid by winning continuously, (giving them the belief that) we can win from any situation, any position. Ramiz Raja concluded by saying. 

This is the third T20 World Cup final for India and the first since 2014. For South Africa, it is their first-ever ICC World Cup final. India in between have lost a few ICC finals including the WTC 2021 and 2023 final and the 2023 ODI World Cup final in recent times.
