There was a time that we played to win even in overseas conditions - Virat Kohli's brother attacks Gautam Gambhir
India National Cricket Team, last year, faced a humiliating 0-3 whitewash at the hands of the New Zealand National Cricket Team in the Test series at home.
It was the first such instance in the history of Test cricket that India suffered a whitewash at home in a Test series. Also, in the ongoing Test series against South Africa, India have looked miserable.
They lost the first Test match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, and in the ongoing match in Guwahati, they are on the verge of facing a humiliating defeat.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s elder brother, Vikas Kohli, is angry seeing India's struggles as he took to Threads to take an indirect dig at Gautam Gambhir.
"There was a time that we played to win even in overseas conditions. Now we are playing to save the match, even in India. This is what happens when u try to boss around and change things unnecessarily which were not broken," Vikas Kohli wrote.
Vikas Kohli breaks down India's 'poor' Test strategy
Virat Kohli's brother, in another thread, compared the strategy of India and South Africa. He highlighted how India have increased their trust in all-rounders, while the Proteas still rely on the specialists, which is the reason behind their success. He stated:
"So lets break it down: Team india strategy: remove senior. experienced players. Remove proper 3/4/5 batmen. Play bowler at no 3.
"Use all allrounders........ SOUTH AFRICA STRATEGY: Play proper test match team: Specialist openers. Specialist no 3/4/5/6 batters. Specialist spinners. Specialist fast bowlers and maybe 1 all rounder. Though i really want team. India to win but questions needs to be asked now... WHO IS RESPONSIBLE???."
What we want to see now is a real fightback - Parthiv Patel
In an interaction on JioHotstar, former wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel talked about India needing 522 runs to win with 8 wickets in hand. He said that India need to showcase an unreal fightback on a spinning track to save the match. He said:
“What we want to see now is a real fightback and some determination from the Indian batters. The need to play a little more towards the bodyline, to defend properly — those are exactly the things you want to see, and they are expected at this stage.”
"Yes, the ball is turning, no doubt, and it’s bouncing too, but not as much as it did in Kolkata. On this pitch, if you show a bit more technique, you can survive and play well.”
