Former Sri Lanka National Cricket Team pacer Lasith Malinga reacted to Virat Kohli's 'Malinga' jibe at Shakib Al Hasan in the ongoing first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The Mumbai Indians bowling coach came up with a lighthearted response.

Virat Kohli has been at his animated best in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The premier India batter has been keeping things light on the field and is making sure that he entertains the fans with his gestures and his words, which were caught on the stump mic.

In what was an epic stump mic moment, Virat Kohli was heard taking a jibe at the Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Day 2 of the game. This came after the spinner darted back-to-back pinpoint yorker balls to the batter, who defended them with ease.

After the over, Kohli took a hilarious jibe at Shakib Al Hasan, who was standing in the infield at the time. The batter said: “Malinga bana hua hai, yorker pe yorker de raha hai (Acting like Malinga, bowling yorker after yorker"). This made even Bangladesh players laugh.

Kohli's jibe at Shakib Al Hasan was caught by stump mic, and it went viral on the internet, with many giving funny reactions. But the main reaction came from Sri Lanka Legend Lasith Malinga himself, who reacted to the video on his Twitter account.

Lasith Malinga wrote: “Niyamai mall,” which translates to ‘Great, brother.’

Virat Kohli and Shakib Al Hasan fail to perform in first Test

Coming to the performances, both Virat Kohli and Shakib Al Hasan didn't have the kind of game they would've wanted. The India batter struggled to get going with the bat in both the innings and didn't live up to the expectations that were set up by him.

Virat Kohli scored 6 runs in the first innings and then couldn't make a bigger impact in the second innings as well. He was trapped in lbw by Mehidy Hasan Miraz as he was back in the hut for 17 runs, and he made a big blunder by not taking the DRS.

On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan, too, has struggled big time with the bat and ball. He bowled 8 overs in the first innings and couldn't take a single wicket. His poor performance continued in the second innings as well. He was taken to cleaners by Rishabh Pant as he finished with the most expensive match figures of his Test career.

Shakib Al Hasan was the top run scorer for his team in the first innings, as he scored 32 runs off 64 balls before getting out to an untimely reverse sweep. He is currently batting at 5 runs off 14 balls in the second innings and would be keen to make a big impact and help his team win the game as they need around 350 runs to win.
