He is second on the list of all-time leading run-scorers in T20 internationals with 3296 runs at an average of 51.5 with 30 fifty-plus scores and a high score of 94.

The knock was a first innings classic and Virat Kohli who walked in at number 3 tore apart the Australian bowlers targeting the shorter part of the ground and running quick ones and two’s. India posted 188 runs on the board with Kohli’s magic as India won the match and later clean swept the Aussies in the series.

The stakes were all-time high as India faced South Africa in the 2nd Semi-Final of the 2014 T20 World cup in Bangladesh. South Africa scored 172 runs. The Indian openers started well adding 50 runs for the first wicket. Both the openers were dismissed in quick succession and Virat Kohli once again took the responsibility of the chase as he scored a 72 of just 44 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. He was the leading run-scorer in the tournament and was adjudged the player of the tournament.

This was Virat Kohli’s fastest fifty in T20 internationals. Both the Indian openers Rohit and KL Rahul added 135 runs for the first wicket and then in walked Virat Kohli. Kohli timed the ball beautifully from ball one and he middled almost every ball he faced. Kohli scored this knock with a strike rate of 241.37 and bludgeoned the Windies bowlers scoring a 29 ball 70 with 7 sixes. India reached 240 runs and this was India’s third-highest score in T20Is.

This Inning is remembered as one of the destructive and unstoppable knocks of Virat Kohli. Kohli struggled to time the ball at the start of the innings before Kesrick Williams messed with Kohli with his words which triggered Virat Kohli and what followed after that was pure carnage. Every bowler that came into the bowl was smashed to all parts of the ground. Kohli mocked Williams with his book signature. India chased down 208 runs target with Kohli’s pyrotechnics.
