Virat Kohli, one of India’s biggest sports icons, was trolled on social media after his Wimbledon 2025 prediction fell flat. Just days before the grand Wimbledon 2025 Finale, Virat Kohli publicly backed his good friend Novak Djokovic to lift his eighth Wimbledon title and create Grand Slam history.

Speaking confidently from Centre Court on July 7, Kohli told renowned commentator Vijay Amritraj that he was hoping for a classic Djokovic versus Carlos Alcaraz clash in the Wimbledon 2025 Finale. He even predicted that the Serbian legend would claim his 25th Grand Slam crown.

The former Indian captain also praised Djokovic’s resilience, saying his friend deserves the title for his hard work and determination. However, fate had a different plan; Novak Djokovic crashed out in the semifinals, falling to Italian star Jannik Sinner.

And then Jannik Sinner went on to defeat Alcaraz in the final on July 13, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to claim his maiden Wimbledon crown. With this historic win, Sinner became the first Italian to ever win Wimbledon and added a fourth Grand Slam title to his name at just 23 years old.

As Sinner celebrated his moment at the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Sunday, social media erupted with jabs aimed at Kohli, with fans mocking his failed prediction. Some called it the “Kohli curse,” as the Indian batting icon himself has not won the World Cup as captain.

Virat Kohli’s adorable gesture about Anushka Sharma and kids melts hearts

Recently, Virat Kohli showed off his soft and loving side during a charity event in London hosted by Yuvraj Singh. He attended the YouWeCan charity event, where he shared the stage with legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Ashish Nehra, and India’s Test captain Shubman Gill.

The event had many special moments, but one stood out and quickly became the talk of the town. As comedian and Kohli’s close friend Sumit Sapra spotted him in the crowd, he waved to get Virat’s attention and casually asked, “Where is Anushka?” and Kohli responded in the cutest way.

The dashing right-handed batter just smiled and used a hand gesture to show that Anushka Sharma was at home sleeping with their kids, Vamika and Akaay. The moment was captured and has now gone viral on social media, winning hearts everywhere.

Virat Kohli’s funny take on Test retirement goes viral

On the other hand, Kohli gave a funny reply when asked about his Test retirement. The former Indian skipper joked about how often he has to color his beard now, hinting that age might be the main reason behind his shocking call.

He told the host, Gaurav Kapur, “I just colored my beard two days ago. You know it's time when you are coloring your beard every four days.” Kohli is likely to be seen in action in India’s white-ball tour of Australia later this year. He will only now be seen in action in ODI cricket.
