VVS Laxman Heaps Praise On Rahul Dravid As A Mentor And Expects Youngsters To Learn A Lot

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman stated that his former teammate Rahul Dravid was the best gift for the youngsters to have on the Sri Lanka tour and heaped praises on him. India will be taking on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series followed by three-match T20 internationals and Rahul Dravid has travelled with the young squad to mentor them.

The senior players will be in England along with Ravi Shastri as the coach and this opens up opportunities for the youngsters to learn from one of the greats of the game, Rahul Dravid. Impressive performances might also open the door to the T20 World Cup squad and all eyes will be on the limited-overs series.

“Rahul Is A Terrific Mentor” –  VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman hailed Dravid for his mentorship skills and he was happy that the youngsters travel with him from the Under-19, then India A squads and the NCA which gives them a lot of chance to learn from him. He was certain about these youngsters benefitting from the presence of Dravid and was happy to see him as the mentor.

“Most players in the squad have worked with Rahul [Dravid] previously, either with India ‘A’ and Under-19 or at the NCA, and have clearly benefited from his wisdom. I am sure they will be better off for this experience because Rahul is a terrific mentor, cricket-wise and beyond,” VVS Laxman told.

VVS Laxman Recollects Dravid’s Philosophy

VVS Laxman mentioned the philosophy of Dravid to give every player in the squad to express themselves in at least one game helped the youngsters a lot and he also believes that the philosophy would take India to greater heights when it comes to winning.

“In the past, Rahul has stressed on making sure everyone in the squad gets at least one game. That philosophy is certain to give way to a strong emphasis on winning,” VVS Laxman wrote in his column for TOI.

Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman have shared a lot of great partnerships including the famous Kolkata Test where India created history through these two legends.
