Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has felt the hard-hitting Rishabh Pant should be sent up the order if India had lost just two or 3 wickets at the end of the 14th over. In the warmup fixture against England, Pant came in at No.4 for India and finished unbeaten with a 29 off just 14 deliveries. He came into the crease and straightaway took on the spinners with two big sixes down the ground.

It ensured that India ended up winning the game comfortably by 6 wickets in the end, and the openers looked the most fluent in the batting order. In a chase of 189, KL Rahul smashes a 24 ball 51 while Ishan Kishan showed his brute power with the bat from the other end scoring an unbeaten 70 off 46 deliveries.

VVS Laxman Heaps Praise On Rishabh Pant’s Power Hitting Skills

VVS Laxman mentioned that No.4 is the right position for Suryakumar Yadav in the batting lineup unless the situation is well set for Rishabh Pant to come in and take on the bowlers straight away. He added that he will be paying more attention to Rishabh Pant while he is the crease with his ability to change the game quickly.

“I feel No. 4 is the right position for Suryakumar Yadav. Rishabh Pant can start at No. 5, but if two or three wickets have fallen around the 13th or 14th over, then Rishabh Pant can go and bat.

“I will pay more attention to the overs because Rishabh Pant is a batter who can change the course of a match with his power hitting,” VVS Laxman told on Star Sports show.

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are due for some runs in their bank, and it won’t be a surprise if Rishabh Pant is rested for the second warm-up fixture.
