VVS Laxman To Join NCA On December 13

Former Indian player VVS Laxman will join the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on December 13.
Laxman is set to replace his former teammate Rahul Dravid, India’s new head coach, as the head at NCA.

Currently, the Hyderabad player is part of the commentary panel for the India-New Zealand Test series for the official broadcasters.
Along with Laxman, the appointment of former Australia and England bowling coach Troy Cooley as the pace bowling coach of NCA was finalised.
“Laxman’s contract has been signed already. His last media assignment is the second Test between New Zealand and India. He will be joining Bengaluru from December 13. Also for a certain period, he will be in the West Indies for the U19 ICC World Cup,” a senior BCCI office-bearer told news agency PTI.
“We have also finalised all the NCA coaching appointments and it has been minuted,” he added.
Some players from India A team to stay back in South Africa
Currently the India A team is playing in South Africa against South Africa A team despite the news of new COVID-19 variant detected in the country.
India is scheduled to play three Tests and as many ODI matches against the Proteas with the first Test match starting on December 26.
According to sources, some players from India A team might stay back in South Africa to join the senior team.
“Most of them will come back after the third A Test but maybe a couple will be selected in the main squad and a few who will be net bowlers,” the official said.
Currently, India is playing the Test series-decider against New Zealand at the Wankhede in Mumbai. India drew the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur and currently are in the driver’s seat with a huge lead of 332.
