A sudden drama exploded on Day 4 of the ongoing second and final Test in Guwahati when Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar stunned everyone by threatening to Mankad South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder.
The Indian spinner Washington Sundar stopped midway and turned sharply toward the stumps, catching Mulder well outside his crease in the second innings before the lunch break.

The South African all-rounder had left his crease from the non-striker's end as Sundar was about to deliver the ball to Tristan Stubbs. Sundar lost patience and stopped. However, Sundar didn’t break the stumps, but he clearly sent the warning to Mulder to stay inside the crease.

Well, Washington Sundar has so far bowled 22 overs and given away 67 runs while dismissing the South African captain Temba Bavuma on Day 4 of the ongoing second and final Test in Guwahati.
In the ongoing Test series, where India has looked unsettled and unsure, Sundar has quietly emerged as the one player who refuses to complain, hesitate, or back down. The 25-year-old all-rounder has batted at five different positions (5, 8, 9, 7, 3, 3, 8) in his last seven Test innings, and that would normally break a player’s rhythm.

But on Day 4 in Guwahati, Sundar played another knock to prove his worth when almost the entire team looked clueless. Walking in with India in deep trouble, the left-hander played one of the most determined knocks of the innings. His 48 off 92 balls gave India a moment of stability, and he also built a fighting 72-run partnership with Kuldeep Yadav against South Africa.
Even though the stand couldn’t change the match situation, it stood out as one of India’s rare positive moments in a Test where nothing has gone their way. Sundar looked determined, composed, and completely unfazed by his unstable role in the Test line-up.

Even the all-rounder has stressed that he enjoys taking on any role the team needs because cricket is all about contributing whenever the team expects it. He added that this challenge motivates him even more to deliver for the team.
Sundar had said after Day 3, “I would say I am the happiest to bat wherever the team wants me to bat. That way, it is a lot more exciting. This is a team game. I really want to be the cricketer who steps up whenever the team requires and wherever the team wants me to bat and bowl. I don't think many get that opportunity to play different roles. So, it is only exciting.”
Tristan Stubbs stuns India with fiery 94 as South Africa set massive 549-run target
Meanwhile, South Africa tightened their grip on the ongoing final Test as Tristan Stubbs smashed a commanding 94, pushing the visitors to 260/5 before declaring their innings. India had begun Day 4 with promise, with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar removing Ryan Rickelton, Aiden Markram, and Temba Bavuma early.
But the momentum shifted when Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi added a quick 101-run stand. However, Jadeja broke the partnership by removing Zorzi for 49, yet Stubbs carried on with help from Wiaan Mulder to take the lead beyond 500. Stubbs fell short of a century, and South Africa declared, leaving India a massive 549-run chase in Guwahati.
