Wasim Akram has once again bashed the Pakistani cricket system for their inconsistency in management, which is affecting the team's on-field results.

The Babar Azam-led Pakistani side pre-maturely exited the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies from the Group stages itself. The Men in Green, after losing back-to-back matches against the USA and India, saw their campaign in the US come to an end despite finishing as runners-up in the previous edition.

In the edition before 2022, Pakistan had become semi-finalists but lost to eventual champions Australia who had claimed their maiden T20 WC in 2021. Last year, Babar Azam and co. had a mixed performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup in India wherein they finished outside of the top 4 for the second time in a row.

But a lot was expected from them in the ongoing T20 World Cup but nothing happened as it was planned. Losses to USA and India was enough for Pakistan to exit the tournament and the final two victories against Canada and Ireland didn't mean anything at all.

Following Pakistan's early departure, many former cricketers came together to criticize the current system and one of them was 1992 WC winner Wasim Akram. The former left-arm seamer, after saying that the team is not playing seriously, has once again launched a scathing attack on the team.

Wasim Akram baffled by PCB's changes in Chairmanship

While speaking to Sportskeeda recently, Wasim Akram shed light on the managerial decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board, which affects on-field results. Akram started off by questioning the removal in captaincy of Shaheen Afridi only after an away 4-1 series loss in New Zealand.

Wasim Akram also raised questions about the changes in the Chairman of the PCB, which saw them appoint 3 different personalities in a year. First, it was Ramiz Raja, then it was Najam Sethi before Zaka Ashraf took office and within just a few months the current chairman Mohsin Naqvi was brought in by the board.

"They replaced Shaheen Afridi from captaincy and then changed three chairmen in one year. First, they removed Ramiz (Raja). They didn't even let him get into office. Then Najam Sethi was brought in. Zaka Ashraf came after three months. After four to five months, Mohsin Naqvi was brought in as the new PCB chairman." - Akram told Sportskeeda

Akram questions Babar Azam's re-appointment

Wasim Akram went on to further question the PCB's decision to re-appoint Babar Azam as the white ball captain. This particular move saw newly appointed T20 skipper Shaheen Afridi get sacked just after a month's service. Akram admitted that the Board should have at least given Shaheen a year before removing him.

Lastly, Wasim Akram pleaded with the PCB to make the right decisions from now on because their abrupt choices have made them a joke in world cricket.

"How can the team be consistent then? They replaced Babar with Shaheen as Pakistan's captain. The latter lost one series and the chairman was changed during that phase. The newcomer asked to change the captain and got it done. This is just not on. People make fun of us in world cricket. They don't get it. If you have made (Shaheen) Afridi the captain, give him a year." - Wasim Akram concluded.
