Wasim Jaffer breaks all myths of Pakistan fans as he wakes them up to reality with a burning tweet

While many cricket fans believe that Pakistan got knocked out of the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 due to the USA vs Ireland washout match, Wasim Jaffer is not among them. The former India Test player Wasim Jaffer believes that Pakistan lost Super 8 entry due to their defeat against the USA. 

Pakistan has been eliminated from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Babar Azam-led side, who were the runners-up of the previous edition, has faced a humiliating first-round exit in the T20 WC 2024. Interestingly, the Ireland vs USA game on Friday was a key encounter in the Group A round. 

With a victory, the USA had the chance to qualify for the next round from Group A. On the other hand, Pakistan wanted Ireland to win the encounter so that they could be alive in the tournament. However, the weather had a different plan as the match was abandoned due to heavy rains. 

Due to the USA vs IRE game getting washed out, the USA earned 1 point needed to finalize their berth in the next round. Now, India and the USA are two teams from Group A to qualify for the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan got knocked out because they lost to the USA: Wasim Jaffer 

Ranji Trophy legend Wasim Jaffer added a pinch of salt to Pakistan's wounds with his brutal dig on X (Twitter). Jaffer noted that Pakistan were knocked out due to their defeat against the USA. 

"Contrary to popular belief, Pakistan didn't get knocked out because USA v IRE got rained off. They got knocked out because Pakistan lost to the USA :) #USAvIRE #T20WorldCup", he wrote. Have a look at his tweet below.

Pakistan lost to the USA and India in the first two clashes 

Shockingly, the Men-in-Green lost to the USA in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Batting first, Pakistan piled up a decent 159-7 in Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. However, they could not defend their total as the USA also reached the same score after 20 overs. Later, Monank Patel-led USA won the match in the super over. 

Later, Pakistan also lost to India in their next match. Opting to bowl first, Babar Azam bowled out India for 119/7 in 1st innings. However, they failed to chase down the target later with a brutal bowling show by the Indian camp and lost by 6 runs. 

With 2 wins in 2 games, Pakistan had a narrow chance to qualify for the next round and it all depended on the USA vs Ireland clash. However, with the game getting washed out, the USA stole a spot in the Super 8 round along with India.

India and USA bag the top two spots in Group A 

India and the USA will play in the Super 8 round from Group A. India has 6 points in 3 games as the Men-in-Blue won all of their three encounters at the start. USA has 5 points from 4 games with 2 wins, 1 defeat, and 1 no-result. 

India will now face Canada in their last Group match but it is a dead-rubber encounter. Moreover, Pakistan and Ireland will also play one more game but it will not affect the final standings. 

Pakistan has 2 points from 3 games while Ireland has 1 point from 3 games. Canada is another team from the pool that has been eliminated.
