Since donning the captaincy armband for the India National Cricket Team in Tests and ODIs, Shubman Gill has taken his form to the next level. In both of the formats of the game, the top-order batter showed his best. Even in the Indian Premier League with the Gujarat Titans, the batter performed according to the demands of the format. Still, after all the heroics, Shubman Gill is not an all-format cricketer for the Indian cricket team.
Former Team India opener Wasim Jaffer, in his latest YouTube video,o stated that Shubman Gill will be an immediate choice for any other T20I team across the globe. The Indian talent pool is so massive that a batter of Gill's calibre remains out of the T20I squad. Jaffer's comments on Gill came after the batter's match-winning century in the previous match against West Indies.
Multiple top-order batters already in India's T20I squad
Since the emergence of the Indian Premier League, there are a lot of talents who have climbed the ranks and represented the national side mostly in the white-ball formats. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the latest batter who came into the limelight through his batting in the league with the Rajasthan Royals. There are some other batters and bowlers as well in the list.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and even Ishan Kishan are in India's T20I team. The already congested top order has no room for another opener. Therefore, for valid reasons, Shubman Gill is not with the T20I team. If the selectors want to include him in the team for the shortest format, then they will have to drop at least one between Samson, Sharma, Sooryavanshi, and Kishan.

Wasim Jaffer in his YouTube video said that it is unfortunate for Gill, who is a brilliant all-format batter, that he is not included in the T20I team. He would be a straightforward choice in any other T20 International team. So far this year, he has scored 671 runs across nine innings at an average of 95.85 and a strike rate of 109.10 in the ODIs.
"He is an all-format player. Unfortunately, our T20 team is so strong that Shubman hasn't been able to make a place for himself. In any other country, Shubman would walk into the T20I team. He is a wonderful batter in this format."

Kuldeep Yadav also played a brilliant role in India's eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the previous ODI match at the Greenfield International Stadium. In his spell, the left-arm wrist spinner took 4 wickets for 40 runs.
"First of all, it was nice to see him play and that he got a chance in the XI. This is the difference Kuldeep Yadav makes. West Indies got such a good start, and after that, if you have a quality wrist-spinner, he can change the game. Very happy to see Kuldeep Yadav play and perform. I think somewhere a lot of pressure must have been off him. He gets matches between breaks. He showed what he can do," Jaffer added.
