Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer has taken a hilarious dig at Mohammad Rizwan for his antics on the field during his brilliant match-winning knock against Sri Lanka at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka locked horns against each other in the 8th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 and Mohammad Rizwan stole the show with a stunning unbeaten match-winning century. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been in good form in recent times and made the most of it against the Islanders. Before the World Cup began, he scored 103 runs against New Zealand in the warm-up game.

In Pakistan’s World Cup opener against the Netherlands, the right-handed batsman bailed his team out of trouble with a 68-run knock. And on Tuesday (October 10), he was at it again.

Chasing a record total of 345, Pakistan were in all sorts of trouble when their star batted walked out to bat. The Men in Green began their chase in a disastrous manner, losing Imam-ul-Haq (12) and captain Babar Azam (10) for just 37 runs.

However, Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique went on to smash brilliant centuries to power Pakistan to a record chase. Shafique was out for 113 runs while the wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 131 and took his side home in the 49th over.

Wasim Jaffer trolls Mohammad Rizwan:

While Mohammad Rizwan is receiving praise from all over for his brilliant knock, he has also become the butt of all jokes because of his antics on the field. The way he handled his cramps during the knock left many including the commentators in splits. In fact, commentator Simon Doull said on air: “get him into the movies.”

And it looks like Wasim Jaffer also enjoyed the Pakistan star’s antics. After the game ended, the former India batter took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the incident in his usual humorous manner, writing: “We got to see 5 centuries today but Rizwan stole the show with his act ? #PAKvSL #CWC2023”

Meanwhile, Rizwan himself admitted that he did exaggerate his struggle with the cramps during his knock. When asked about it during the post-match presentation ceremony, Rizwan hilariously said: “The cramps were there, but now I am feeling fine. It happens with me sometimes. Was in pain but fought through it. Sometimes cramps, sometimes acting.”
