Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer never get tired of taking shots at each other. Time and again, one has seen them engaging in banters on social media and they were at it again once again on Friday (November 3).

The former England captain was recently in Mumbai to cover India’s World Cup clash against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. The iconic stadium was Wasim Jaffer’s home ground during his illustrious playing career. The former India batter began his professional career with Mumbai and played for them for 19 years in first-class cricket.

In 2015, he decided to leave Mumbai for Vidarbha and won the Ranji Trophy with them too. Coming back to Michael Vaughan’s visit to Mumbai, the England great decided to make the most of his visit to Wasim Jaffer’s hometown. While Jaffer scored a ton of runs in domestic cricket in Mumbai, he failed to do well at the venue in international cricket.

Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer troll each other:

Wasim Jaffer played 2 Tests at the Wankhede Stadium and failed to do well in both the games. In 2000, he played his first Test in his hometown when India locked horns against South Africa. Opening the innings, he registered scores of 4 and 6 as India lost the game by 4 wickets.

Six years later, he was part of the Indian team that played against England in Mumbai. In that game, he scored 11 and 10 as India suffered another defeat. And Michael Vaughan decided to tease Jaffer for his poor record at the Wankhede Stadium as he took to X to write:

“So good to be at the Wankhede yesterday .. The best batting surface in #India .. As a local boy @WasimJaffer14 averaged an astounding 7.75 in Test cricket at such a iconic cricket venue ..”

Jaffer did not take long to reply to Michael Vaughan’s tweet and as usual, he came up with another brilliant response. The former batsman reminded the former England batter of his failure to score a double or triple century in first-class cricket as well as Tests, writing:

“Yes Michael Wankhede is a batting paradise, too bad I missed out in the couple of Tests I played there. Could be because I preferred challenges. Like the challenge of scoring home & away Test 200s or FC 200s & 300s.. but you wouldn’t know any of those feelings so nevermind ?”
