USA all-rounder Saurabh Netravalkar has been ruling the headlines for all the good reasons ever since the beginning of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The engineer-cricketer first grabbed the spotlight with his lethal spell of 2/18 during the USA's remarkable win over Pakistan in Dallas.

The India-born star pacer has been on fire in the tournament, and he has yet again produced a brilliant bowling display against the Men in Blue in their Group 1 game on Wednesday, June 12, in New York.

Saurabh Netravalkar shines with historic spell against India in T20 World Cup 2024 match

In this match, he achieved a rare feat, but the USA team lost the game to India by seven wickets at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday.

Netravalkar became the first-ever bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli on a golden duck in any ICC event after the Indian batting superstar fell in the very first over, edging a ball straight to the wicketkeeper.

He also sent Indian skipper Rohit Sharma back to the pavilion for just 3 runs off 6 balls. He was the standout bowler from the USA team, registering impressive figures of 2/18 in his four overs.

After the IND vs USA game, where the hosts gave a tough fight to the Indian cricket team, especially in the second innings in New York, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer cheekily expressed his disappointment for not giving more opportunities to Netravalkar at the Mumbai side.

Netravalkar played two seasons for Mumbai, but he was not getting many opportunities there, so he decided to move to the USA and join Oracle as a software engineer, and now he is representing the American cricket team at the global stage.

Wasim Jaffer regrets not giving Saurabh Netravalkar more chances after historic spell

Well, after his impressive performance against Team India, Wasim took the opportunity and replied to an old post shared by Netravalkar on the microblogging site X while expressing his appreciation for his T20 World Cup 2024 heroics.

Actually, back in November 2021, Elon Musk, the business tycoon and CEO of Tesla Motors, posted on X that “the USA benefits greatly from Indian talent” when he was reminded by an Irish entrepreneur, Patrick Collison, that India-born CEOs are running like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, and even X (formerly known as Twitter).

Replying to Musk’s post, Jaffer cheekily posted on X: “Both off the field and on it." It took Netravalkar back into his early cricketing career, as he replied to the former Mumbai legend by saying, “Still remember the special day when I got my first Ranji Trophy cap from you.”

Now, Jaffer took another opportunity to cheekily express his disappointment at not offering Netravalkar more opportunities when he was representing Mumbai in Indian domestic cricket. Replying to Netravalkar’s old post, Jaffer wrote: “I should have given this guy more chances in the Ranji Trophy 😛 #USAvIND #T20WC.”

However, despite the crushing defeat against India, the USA team still has great chances to qualify for the Super Eights of the ongoing T20 World Cup in 2024. They will have to beat Ireland comprehensively in their final Group A game on June 14 to finish in the second spot and make it to the next round of the mega event.
