Former India opener Wasim Jaffer couldn’t stop himself from taking a dig at the England team members, who were out checking the pitch on the eve of the fourth Test between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.

The previous Test at the same venue was a D/N encounter and the Indian spinners in Axar Patel (11/70) and Ravichandran Ashwin (7 wickets) reputed the England batsmen, picking 18 wickets in between them, as India won by 10 wickets.

The fourth Test will be a regular day match with a red ball, but the England contingent of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Paul Collingwood, Mark Wood, and Stuart Broad looked tensely at the surface of the Ahmedabad, and Wasim Jaffer decided to have fun imagining what conversation the Englishmen were having.

Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, Jonny Bairstow, and England assistant coach Paul Collingwood were checking on the pitch and their tensed faces and grim reactions were enough for Wasim Jaffer to troll the visitors.

In the post that Jaffer shared, fast bowler Stuart Broad said, “Guess my tour is over then”, to which Mark Wood, who is yet to play a match in India responded, “At least you played bro”. Batsman Jonny Bairstow, who was out for a pair in the 3rd Test, says, “Where me flat pitch?!”.

Meanwhile, England assistant coach Paul Collingwood thinking, “Oh this one’s gonna turn innit?”. However, the best reaction was reserved for England captain Joe Root, who is imagined as saying, “Ah shit here we go again..”

Many former England players including Alastair Cook, Michael Vaughan, David Lloyd, and others have slammed the pitches which have been spin friendly in the last two Tests. The defeat in the third Test match also ended England’s hopes of qualifying for the final of the ICC World Test Championship at home in Lord’s.

Meanwhile, India needs to either draw or win this Test match and the series to ensure they play New Zealand in the final of the inaugural ICC WTC on June 18.
