India captain Virat Kohli’s use of a common Hindi abuse is often lip-read as England all-rounder Ben Stokes’ name. Former opener Wasim Jaffer, on Sunday, put it to some good hilarious use.

The Twitter handle of Wisden India asked the Indian team fans: “If international transfers were allowed in cricket, which player would you have loved to see in the Indian Test team?”

Wasim Jaffer, well-known for his funny takes on social media, replied with a GIF of Virat Kohli abusing which resonates with the same lip movements as the pronunciation of ‘Ben Stokes’.

While this take of Jaffer is funny and caused plenty of laughs amongst fans, it also indicated the deep dearth of quality seam-bowling all-rounders in India since Kapil Dev.

While Irfan Pathan and Hardik Pandya are the ones who have gone on to make significant careers. However, the former’s career came to a premature end, while the latter’s recent injury issues have prevented him from bowling.

In recent times, all-rounder Vijay Shankar and Shivam Dube have been tried as a backup for Pandya, but both of them faded away soon from the national setup. Hence, Jaffer’s response hints at the desperate need for a seam-bowling all-rounder in the national team, as Hardik continues to be disallowed to bowl.

Quarantine rules relaxed for Virat Kohli’s and co. upon landing in England

The BCCI has managed to negotiate the hard quarantine rules for Virat Kohli and co. on their upcoming tour of the UK. Almost all the players have entered the hard quarantine in Mumbai, before flying to the UK for the Test assignments on June 2.

It has been reported that the contingent now has to undergo only a 3-day hard quarantine, instead of the earlier planned 10-day isolation, upon landing in England before being allowed to practice.

Virat Kohli will lead the team in 6 Tests – the inaugural edition of the ICC WTC final versus New Zealand in Southampton from June 18 followed by a 5-Test series in August-September against Joe Root’s side. The Kiwis, however, are already in England preparing for their 2-Test series with the hosts starting June 2.
