Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria criticised Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) departing CEO Wasim Khan for his work for Pakistan cricket.

Wasim Khan on Wednesday stepped down from the position of PCB’s Chief Executive Officer just four months before his contract was supposed to expire.

Wasim had taken the office in 2019 on a three years deal but with his sudden departure the board, which is already going through a tough phase, is left with an arduous task to fill his position.

What has Wasim Khan done for Pakistan cricket?: Asks Danish Kaneria

Just after Wasim’s resignation, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja called a meeting with the board of directors to discuss the future.

Kaneria, who played 80 international matches for Pakistan before being banned in an alleged spot-fixing case, questioned Wasim Khan about his work with the board and slammed him for not being able to convince England and Wales Cricket Board to tour Pakistan.

“What has Wasim Khan done for Pakistan cricket? He has only ruined Pakistan cricket by running behind money. When Ramiz bhai requested him to work for 30% less money, he declined as the powers were snatched away from him. Khan’s misuse of power damaged and harmed Pakistan cricket. If he had such contacts with England, why couldn’t he convince them to tour Pakistan?” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

Danish Kaneria expects Aaqib Javed to occupy the director’s position in PCB

Kaneria directed Ramiz Raja to appoint former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed as the new director of PCB citing his work for PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars.

“I predict Ramiz bhai to do away with the CEO position and expect Aaqib Javed to occupy the director’s position. He has done wonders as he has worked with Lahore Qalandars. I have also worked with Javed in the National Cricket Academy and he is a zero-tolerance type of personality. There is also a great understanding between Javed and Ramiz bhai,” Kaneria said.

The PCB is yet to announce the replacement of Wasim Khan.
