Former England National Cricket Team pacer James Anderson has started his county stint on a high. Playing for Lancashire, he looked in superb touch with the ball in the ongoing game against Derbyshire at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

James Anderson, who retired from international cricket last summer, is continuing to play county cricket. The ongoing game against Derbyshire has seen the veteran oozing his class with the new ball.

James Anderson didn't take long to make an impact with the new ball for Lancashire against Derbyshire

After Lancashire posted a massive total of 458 runs on the board, James Anderson took the new ball, and it didn't take him long to make an impact. The fast bowler removed Derbyshire opener Caleb Jewell, who seemed to have no answers to the delivery by the pacer.

Anderson came running in from around the wicket and bowled a delivery that was angled in. Caleb Jewell attempted to defend the ball, but the ball went through his defences and hit the top of the off as the veteran pacer got his wicket of the day.

Here's the video:

Caleb Jewell didn't have a great outing with the bat in the first innings. The left-hander was back in the hut after scoring just 16 runs off 14 balls. He slammed four boundaries, and with his wicket, Derbyshire lost their first wicket for just 33 runs.

Anderson, however, didn't stop there as he then went on to remove David Lloyd in the 9th over. The batter caught was Matthew Hurst, as he managed just 27 runs off 29 balls as Derbyshire lost their second wicket for 50 runs.

James Anderson was part of the England coaching setup since last year, Tim Southee replaces him

Anderson was part of the England coaching setup since last year. After he announced his retirement, he was roped in by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as a bowling consultant. However, ahead of the ongoing summer, he parted ways with the team for his county stint with Lancashire.

In his place, the England National Cricket Team roped in Tim Southee as the bowling consultant. The former New Zealand National Cricket Team pacer will begin his stint with the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, followed by the five-match Test series against the India National Cricket Team.

Anderson played 188 Tests for England and picked 704 wickets at an economy rate of 2.79 with 32 four-wicket hauls, 32 five-wicket hauls, and three 10-wicket hauls. He also holds the record for most wickets at a single venue by a fast bowler in Tests. In 29 Tests at Lord’s, Anderson picked up 123 wickets at an economy rate of 2.71.
