Abhishek Sharma, on (October 9), put India in a commanding position in the second T20I against Bangladesh by dismissing Towhid Hridoy.
Earlier in the game, the India opener could not score big with the bat. While he got the start once again, he could not convert it into a big score. The left-handed batsman departed after scoring 15 runs. And while he could not make an impact with the bat, he made amends by picking up a crucial wicket for Team India.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav introduced Abhishek Sharma into the attack straight after the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma went on to justify his captain's decision by taking a wicket in his very first over by sending back the dangerous Towhid Hridoy.
On the fourth ball of the over, he clean bowled the right-handed batsman with a yorker length delivery. Hridoy wanted to hit the ball towards the leg side but failed to make good contact and was clean-bowled.
Talking about the game, Bangladesh were on 82/5 in the 12th over at the time of writing this report. Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali were batting in the middle for the visitors.
Earlier in the game, India finished their innings on 221/9. Asked to bat first, the Men in Blue were staring down the barrel after losing as many as three wickets inside the powerplay. Apart from Abhishek Sharma, the likes of Sanju Samson (10) and Suryakumar Yadav (8) failed to score big as well, as India found themselves reeling at 41/3.
However, a brilliant 108-run stand between Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh bailed India out of trouble and laid the platform for the huge total. Reddy departed after smashing 74 runs from just 34 balls with the help of 4 fours and 7 sixes. On the other hand, Rinku hit 53 off 29 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes.
Hardik Pandya also came up with a fine cameo of 32 runs from just 19 balls. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed was the most economical bowler, conceding only 16 runs in his 4 overs while also taking two wickets. On the other hand, Rishad Hossain picked up the most number of wickets, three.
