Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed seemingly looked scared of the ace Bangladesh spin all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Day 4 of the ongoing second and final Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. It seemed that Abrar Ahmed still has the fresh memories of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Actually, Shakib Al Hasan had controversially “timed out” Angelo Mathews during a group match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Last November, Mathews had made history by becoming the first player in the 146-year history of international cricket to be dismissed for exceeding the two-minute limit to take a strike upon arriving at the crease.

However, Matthews had explained that the strap on his helmet wasn’t properly secured, and that’s why he was not ready to face the ball, but the umpire had already given the Sri Lankan all-rounder “timed out." Even Shakib Al Hasan didn’t overturn his call, saying, “It’s in the laws; I don’t know if it’s right or wrong.” This incident was widely debated among the cricket fraternity.

Well, probably to avoid this situation, Abrar Ahmed was spotted rushing onto the pitch with his helmet barely over his head and his gloves slipping off, which brought laughter from Shakib Al Hasan and the other Bangladeshi players. And the commentators were like, "Did Abrar fear for Shakib for a timeout?"

The hilarious incident took place in the 41st over of Pakistan’s second innings in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh. Now, the clip of the funny moment is going viral on social media, where he was seen in so much hurry to take the crease.

Watch here Abrar Ahmed's hilarious entry:

Well, Nahid Rana bowled a short-of-length delivery with extra bounce and speed that caught Abrar off guard, forcing him to defend from the back foot. The ball glanced off the leg spinner’s glove and went straight to the Bangladesh captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, ending his stay for just 2 runs off 12 balls on Day 4 in Rawalpindi Test.

Bangladesh needs 184 runs to win the Test series in Pakistan

Notably, Rana has been on fire, taking four wickets so far in the second innings. However, Salman Agha was the biggest obstacle in Bangladesh’s way to record their first-ever whitewash in Pakistan. He was close to reaching his fifty, but Hasan Mahmud, who finished with a five-wicket haul, removed Mir Hamza to restrict the Pakistan team to 172 runs in the second inning.

Now, Bangladesh needs 184 runs to win the crucial final Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. If the tourists manage to win the second Test, it would be a historic victory for them. For Pakistan, Agha was the top scorer with 47 runs, followed by Mohammad Rizwan (43).

Apart from Saim Ayub (20) and Shan Masood (28) along with Agha and Rizwan, no Pakistani batter could contribute 15 runs, with six players contributing only 22 runs to the total against Bangladesh. Now, it’s all up to the Pakistani bowlers how they save their pride on home soil.
