Ajinkya Rahane lost his cool on his own teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal for sledging the opposition batter on the fifth day of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2022 final match played between the West Zone and South Zone at the SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore on September 25.

Yashasvi Jaiswal got into an argument with middle-order batsman Ravi Teja, later skipper was seen chatting with him, who looked pretty animated. Rahane asked his teammate Jaiswal to leave the field as a disciplinary action.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was constantly commenting on South Zone batsman Ravi Teja and he complained to the umpire about this sledging in the 50th over of the 4th innings of the match. The umpires intervened quickly to bring calm to the situation. However, things soon became normal after Rahane walked up and had a long chat with him.

But in the 57th over, Rahane was caught on camera again, walking to Jaiswal and then asking him to leave the ground. Rahane then had a word with Shreyas Iyer and showed his displeasure at the youngster not listening to even his captain to shut his mouth.

West Zone did not replace Jaiswal and played the rest of the game with just 10 fielders on the field. Many users on social media praised Ajinkya Rahane’s decision to send the young batsman back to the pavilion.

The West Zone team was bowled out for just 270 runs in the first innings. In reply, South Zone scored 327 runs in the first innings and took the lead of 57 runs. West Zone batted well in the innings and declared their second innings at 584/4, young batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal (265), Shreyas Iyer (71) and Sarfaraz Khan (127) played a crucial innings. South Zone started their second innings with a target of 529 runs and was bowled out for just 234 runs. West Zone won the match by 294 runs and lift the Duleep Trophy.

Yashasvi Jaiswal batted brilliantly in the West Zone’s second innings, scoring 265 off 323 deliveries and received the Man of The Match award for his batting.
