Ambati Rayudu has yet again taken a brutal dig at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during an interaction with Subramaniam Badrinath ahead of their IPL 2025 clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 28 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The six-time IPL champion didn’t hold back as he laughed off Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s legacy of disappointments, mocking their inability to clinch the elusive trophy despite having world-class players in their ranks over nearly two decades.
Ambati Rayudu’s savage dig at RCB goes viral
Rayudu poked fun at the RCB’s long-standing struggles while talking to Subramaniam Badrinath on his YouTube channel. The former Indian batter felt that Royal Challengers Bengaluru's failures had become a source of entertainment over the years for the fans and cricket experts.

However, Rayudu admitted that he’d like to see Royal Challengers Bengaluru win the IPL trophy someday, but it shouldn’t be this year as he wants Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to lift the title in the ongoing season. But at the same time, the former Mumbai Indians and CSK batter has jokingly said that having a big team like RCB without a trophy is not that bad a thing in the IPL.
Ambati Rayudu told Badrinath, “I mean purely as a fan and purely as someone who had really good laughter looking at them over the years because of what they do to themselves. I would want them to win sometime, but not this year, maybe because we want CSK also to really do well and win it. Yeah, in the end, it is like, okay, RCB, we need someone like that in the IPL."
These ex-CSK clowns are now groveling for clout and crumbs of relevance through a "trophyless" RCB 😭😭😭😭😭😭 😭

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's trophy drought continues in the IPL
Well, RCB’s trophy drought is no secret, as they have been part of the IPL since its inception, but never lifted the silverware despite three attempts in the finals—2009, 2011, and 2016. Even with Virat Kohli at the helm for many years, they couldn’t break the curse, suffering a heartbreaking loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 final.
Rayudu’s latest mockery has only added salt to the wounds of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and its fans. However, the Bengaluru-based franchise had a winning start to the 2025 season, beating the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets in the tournament opener at Eden Gardens.

However, RCB last won an IPL game at the Chepauk in 2008, but they would love to carry forward their momentum against CSK when they face the five-time IPL champions on Friday.
Ambati Rayudu has won six IPL titles with CSK and MI
Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu started his IPL journey with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2010. He was part of MI’s title-winning campaign under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in 2013, 2015, and 2017. In 2018, Rayudu joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after being picked up in the mega auction.
CSK made a remarkable comeback in the 2018 season and clinched the trophy. They have tested success in the 2021 and 2023 seasons. Just before the IPL 2023 final, Rayudu announced his retirement and bid farewell to the game after winning the trophy one last time.
After retiring from the game, Rayudu took up commentary and has become a familiar face in the commentary box. He also played 55 ODIs and 6 T20Is for India.
