Watch: Andre Russell Falls After Hitting An Outrageous Off-Balance Six In T20I vs England
West Indies beat England in the second T20I of the five-match series. Alzarri Joseph’s three wickets and half-centuries by opener Brandon King and skipper Rovman Powell led West Indies to a 10-run win against England. However, a particular shot that became one of the talking points of the match was the six hit by Andre Russell off Tymal Mills bowling. Batting alongside Brandon King, Andre Russell’s brief stay at the crease included an off-balance six over long-off.
Tymal Mills, who was bowling the 20th over took the pace off the ball on his fourth delivery and pitched it way outside off-stump. However, Andre Russell reached out for it, lost his balance in the effort, and eventually fell, but still managed to hit it far over long-off for half a dozen runs.
West Indies eventually ended up putting a challenging total of 176/7 on the scoreboard. Alzzari Joseph then led the bowling attack, taking figures of 3/39 which was supported by left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein’s 2 wickets for 24, to restrict England to 166 for 7. Jason Holder and Gudakesh Motie took a wicket each. The win gave West Indies a 2-0 lead against England in the five-match T20I series.

West Indies are on their road to recovery after a string of poor performances which made them miss out on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12s. They won the ODI series against England and have now got a 2-0 lead in the T20I series. West Indies are going to host the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 alongside USA and their preparation for the same has started. The West Indies are performing well since their flop show in ICC World Cup qualifiers. They defeated India 3-2 in the home T20I series played in August 2023.
West Indies will be hoping to beat England in the T20I series and will be a team to beat in the upcoming T20 World Cup. They are looking for a balanced side with good batters and bowlers. Some areas can be improved but all in all, they have improved a lot since the setback of missing out on the World Cup.
