Andrew Tye has brought out his best in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 game between the Perth Scorchers and the Adelaide Strikers. The knockout between the teams is taking place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Perth Scorchers won the toss and opted to field first. They have been nothing short of exceptional in the game and have put pressure straightway on the Adelaide Strikers. They have bowled impeccable lines and lengths and have troubled the batters a lot in a high-pressure game.
One of the biggest blows to Adelaide Strikers came from the pacer Andrew Tye. The fast bowler removed in form Matthew Short with the peach and jolted the opposition. The batter has been piling up runs for fun in the ongoing BBL. However, this time around he had no clue what to do.
During the first ball of the 5th over, Andrew Tye bowled a knuckleball that was full and tailing back into Matthew Short. The ball yorked the batter and the batter’s feet moved nowhere. He brought the bat down very late but the ball went on to rattle the stumps.
It’s fair to say that it was an absolute corker from Andrew Tye to beat the batter all ends up. With the kind of delivery he bowled, any batter could’ve got out on that. It was a much-needed wicket for Perth Scorchers as Matthew Short could’ve proved to be dangerous.

Matthew Short scored 13 runs off 13 balls and slammed just one four in his innings. With his wicket, Adelaide Strikers were left reeling at 26/2. Andrew Tye in his first spell was quite economical as he bowled two overs and conceded just 8 runs at an economy of just 4. He would be hoping to add more to his wickets column and help the team bundle out of opposition for as low a score as possible.
After Andrew Tye removes Matthew Short, Perth Scorchers pick wickets in a flash
After Andrew Tye removed Matthew Short, the Perth Scorchers were all over the Adelaide Strikers. Cooper Connolly chipped in and removed Thomas Kelly for just 6 runs. To worsen the case more, Harry Nielsen hor run out, credit to the brilliance of Aaron Hardie.
With Adelaide Strikers reeling at 48/4, Jake Weatherland led the rescue charge and tried to bail his team out of trouble. He counter-attacked the bowlers and played some breathtaking shots. The batter brought up his half-century but couldn’t continue after that as Hardie sent him packing for 56 runs.
Aaron Hardie chipped in again right after that as he removed James Bazley for 4 runs. Perth Scorchers have asserted their authority in the match and are looking favorites to win the game. Apart from Lance Morris, every other bowler has chipped in.
The onus will now be on Ben Manenti and Henry Thorton to take Adelaide Strikers to the fighting total. If they have to fancy their chances of winning the game, bowlers need to step up and display a similar kind of performance as the Perth Scorchers have done.
