Rohit Sharma was at his animated best as India took some quick wickets in the first session on day four to turn things around in the ongoing second Test against England in Visakhapatnam. Chasing an improbable total of 399 runs, England started the day on 67 for 1. Rehan Ahmed and Zak Crawley added 28 runs to the overnight score before Axar Patel dismissed the former to give India the much-needed early breakthrough.
Ollie Pope and Crawley took the score past the 100-run mark and both of them played the big shots at regular intervals to keep the pressure on India. Pope raced away to 23 runs off just 20 balls before being dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. Joe Root also started aggressively, hitting two fours and a six before being dismissed by Ashwin for 16.
Rohit Sharma celebrates Zak Crawley’s dismissal:
After Pope and Root’s departures in quick time, Crawley and Jonny Bairstow steadied the ship for the visitors. However, before they could bat England to a position of strength, Kuldeep Yadav struck to send back Crawley and put India firmly in the driver’s seat.
The England opener was well set and was batting on 73. Dismissing him was crucial for the hosts and Rohit Sharma’s reaction to his dismissal said it all. After Kuldeep’s delivery hit the right-handed batsman on his pad, the Indian fielders appealed for an lbw only to see the umpire give his decision against them.
Rohit Sharma decided to review the decision and the ball-tracking confirmed that the on-field umpire was wrong. He had to change his decision and as soon as Rohit Sharma saw it on the giant screen, he was seen roaring in delight.

Crawley’s 73-run knock came off 132 balls and contained 8 fours and a six. Even before England could add a run to their score after Crawley’s departure, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Bairstow to leave the visitors reeling at 194 for 6. England still needs 205 runs to win the Test while India needs 4 more wickets to win the game and draw level in the five-match series.
