Star Indian batter Virat Kohli’s wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was observed praying during the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023. Anushka Sharma expressed relief as Virat Kohli survived the Decision Review System (DRS) call early in his innings.
The Rohit Sharma-led team got off to a flying start after opting to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15. Rohit Sharma scored 47 runs off 29 deliveries, including four boundaries and four sixes, before being dismissed by Tim Southee.

Virat Kohli entered the batting crease in the ninth over with India at 71/1 in 8.2 overs. Kohli survived an appeal after being trapped on the pads by Tim Southee. The umpire ruled in favor of Kohli, and replays confirmed the ball had first struck the bat before hitting the pads.
Anushka Sharma, present in the stands to support the team, was seen praying when New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson took the DRS against Virat Kohli. Anushka expressed relief as the DRS decision favored Kohli, and the moment went viral on social media platforms.

The 35-year-old continued his rich veins of form against New Zealand in the semi-final clash. The right-handed player steered the innings after the fall of Rohit Sharma’s wicket. He reached his half-century off 59 balls, marking first in knockout games in ICC ODI events.
