Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh gave a fiery send-off to Riyan Parag during the third match of the Duleep Trophy 2024 between India A and India D at Anantapur. Arshdeep is playing for India D in this tournament while Parag is representing India A.

After electing to field first after winning the toss, India D started well on a surface suitable for pacers and pacer Vidwath Kaverappa picked up two early wickets. But Parag took the attack to the opposition.

While batting at No. 4, he started positively and played an aggressive brand of cricket. He was particularly severe on Arshdeep. However, in the 17th over of the innings, Arshdeep bowled a fuller-length ball outside off stump.

Riyan Parag, who had been aggressive all morning tried to smash the ball through the covers but got an outside edge which was gobbled up at slip by Devdutt Padikkal. After picking up the wicket, Arshdeep Singh was pumped up and gave a fiery send-off to Parag.

While the India A batters struggled to get going early on, Riyan Parag took on the bowlers and gave his team the momentum. He looked in great touch for the most part of his innings but yet again failed to get a big score on the board.

In the first match of the tournament, he got starts in both the innings but failed to get significant score. He scored 30 and 31 across two innings against India B as India A lost the match by 76 runs.

India D bowlers pick up early wickets

Coming to the match, it is a much important game for India A, who need a win desperately here. However, they started poorly as fast bowler Vidwath Kaverappa dismissed Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal in his opening spell.

Riyan Parag tried to counter-attack but Arshdeep Singh got his big wicket which left India A at 65-3. Although India A's run rate was impressive, but the fall of wickets at regular intervals had dented their progress.

Left-hander Tilak Varma came into the Playing XI and got a chance to bat at No. 3. Tilak started cautiously but was dismissed by the offspinner Saransh Jain for just 10 off 33 balls. He fell just after the fall of Riyan Parag's wicket.

Shashwat Rawat, who came into the Playing XI in place of KL Rahul, started well but was dismissed for 15 by the fast bowler Harshit Rana, who had him caught at slip. That left India A tottering at 93-5.

Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani build a partnership

But Jharkhand wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani steadied the innings with their crucial partnership. Both had taken India A's score close to 150-run mark and looked to attack the bad balls on offer.

With several players leaving for international commitments, this round of Duleep Trophy will feature a no. of domestic players and almost all the teams are likely to make changes to their teams from the last game.
