Arshdeep Singh played a key role in India's triumph in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The left-arm pacer lived up to the expectations and has firmly established himself as one of India's key players in the T20I format after the World Cup heroics.

With Mohammed Shami injured, there were apprehensions that India's pace attack might be found wanting in the T20 World Cup. However, Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball and forged a formidable partnership with pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as India clinched the T20 World Cup.

Arshdeep Singh finished T20 World Cup 2024 as India's highest wicket-taker. Only Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi picked up more wickets than him in the competition. In 8 games, Arshdeep picked up 17 wickets with the best figures of 4 for 9.

He impressed with the ball in the final against South Africa as well. In 4 overs, the fast bowler picked up 2 wickets and conceded just 20 runs. He first dismissed South Africa captain Aiden Markram in the powerplay to put India in the driver's seat before picking up the crucial wicket of Quinton de Kock. He also bowled a brilliant 19th over, conceding only 4 runs while South Africa needed 20 runs from the last two overs.

After the heroics in the T20 World Cup, he finally landed in his hometown Mohali on Saturday (July 6) and received a hero's welcome. The fans felicitated him and garlanded him to honor his stunning performance in the World Cup.

According to the Times of India's Gaurav Gupta, Arshdeep's IPL franchise Punjab Kings also celebrated the return of the bowler at the Chandigarh International Airport. Arshdeep has been plying his trade for the franchise in the IPL since 2019.
