Lucknow Super Giants pacer Avesh Khan managed to break the breathtaking opening stand between Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan in the 26th game of the ongoing IPL 2025 on Saturday, April 11, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan started attacking the Lucknow Super Giants bowlers from the start as the duo added 120 runs for just 73 balls for the opening stand to give a flying start to the Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash against the Lucknow Super Giants.

But Avesh Khan finally got success in the 13th over and gave the hosts LSG a big breakthrough by dismissing the GT captain Shubman Gill. It was a full delivery at 122.3 kph, right in the slot. Gill tried to hit it over long-on but couldn’t time it well, and the ball went higher than it went far.

Aiden Markram, standing at long-on, judged it perfectly and took a good overhead catch just inches inside the boundary. He landed safely on his left leg while keeping his balance, ending Gill’s entertaining knock of 60 runs from 38 balls, studded with 6 fours and a six, in Lucknow.
However, it was Avesh Khan’s reaction after dismissing Shubman Gill that caught everyone’s attention. The LSG pacer mocked the GT captain with a bizarre gesture in Lucknow.

Gujarat Titans crumble after blazing start against LSG
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill’s dismissal sparked a mini batting collapse as Gujarat Titans lost three wickets for 23 runs against the LSG at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. After Avesh Khan disrupted GT’s explosive start, it was Ravi Bishnoi who struck twice, removing Sai Sudharsan for a 37-ball 56 and then Washington Sundar before he settled.
Later, Digvesh Singh dismissed Jos Buttler for 16 runs off 14 balls. Now, West Indies’ hard-hitter Sherfane Rutherford is emerging as the threat for the LSG, as he has already struck 3 boundaries in 18 balls. Rutherford was earlier dropped by the LSG captain, Rishabh Pant.
In the 17th over, Digvesh Rathi bowled a googly that landed on a good length and turned away from off stump. Rutherford stayed back and tried to pull it, but the extra bounce made the ball catch the top edge. Rishabh Pant called for the catch, took off his helmet, and ran towards backward square leg.

However, the Lucknow captain wasn’t in a great position and had to dive forward but couldn’t get a hand on it, and the hosts missed the good opportunity. During the process, Pant even signaled to the short fine-leg fielder to back off, as it was his catch, and ended up losing the opportunity.
Well, Lucknow Super Giants made a stunning comeback in the match, as Gujarat Titans could only add 60 runs in the last eight overs after they were 120/0 after 12 overs in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash. For LSG, Shardul Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi each scalped two wickets while Digvesh Singh and Avesh Kha each got one wicket against the GT in Lucknow.
