Ayush Mhatre creates history on IPL debut
Mhatre got the opportunity to play for the 5-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Ayush Mhatre replaced Rahul Tripathi in the playing XI and came out to bat at the No.3 spot.
Mhatre created history after being named in the CSK playing XI as he became the youngest-ever player to represent the franchise in the history of the marquee T20 league.
The 17-year-old impressed everyone with his brilliant batting performance, and he hit 4 fours and 2 sixes during his stay in the middle. He hit a boundary on the second ball he faced and followed it up with back-to-back sixes.
Meanwhile, the youngster was also mighty impressive on the field as well, and he took a good catch to dismiss Ryan Rickelton and was running around with full energy.
The best of Ayush Mhatre was seen in the third ball of the 12th over when he pulled off a jaw-dropping save to deny Suryakumar Yadav a six.
Suryakumar Yadav kneeled across on one knee and swept the ball from R Ashwin uppishly towards fine leg where Ayush Mhatre judged it nicely, took the catch, and he realized that the momentum would take him beyond the boundary ropes; he flicked it in the playing area in the nick of time before going over.

I have been batting really well in the nets - Suryakumar Yadav
Speaking in a video shared on IPL's website ahead of the match, Suryakumar Yadav said that he has been doing very well in the nets and is quite satisfied with his form. Suryakumar Yadav stated:
"Absolutely. The amount of talent and firepower we have in this dressing room, all the batters are very flexible. They are ready to bat in any number and we are practicing in the same way. It feels really good."
"(Personal form) I have been batting really well in the nets. Just hoping for a few good knocks which helps the team win. That's the only thing I am focusing on right now."
Suryakumar Yadav further said that he is a process-oriented player and tries to prepare himself by looking at the opposition. He said:
"Mostly I focus on my preparation. I am a little process oriented man. I do think about the opposition and try to prepare myself. I mean as soon as I hear the sound of that sweet spot hitting the bat, I bat for 10 minutes, leave the nets and go back to the hotel.
"I mean, I don't want to lie. You cannot run away from the fact that the other teams are playing well. The Top 4 teams are at a different level right now. At the same time, we are playing some good brand of cricket. Let's see what happens at the end of 14 games."
