Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan dropped an easy catch off Will Jacks against England during the fourth and final T20I match of the recently concluded series. Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was frustrated with Azam Khan's sloppy wicketkeeping, and the video has gone viral on social media platforms.
The Babar Azam-led team suffered a seven-wicket loss at the Kennington Oval in London on Thursday, May 30. The visiting team was bundled out for 157 runs in 19.5 overs. The Jos Buttler-led side chased down the target with 27 balls to spare and secured a 2-0 victory in the final series before the T20 World Cup 2024.
Azam Khan had a forgettable outing during the do-or-die match against England. The right-handed batter failed to contribute with the bat, as he was dismissed for a duck off five deliveries. To make matters worse, the young cricketer dropped two catches and let down his team's bowlers in a recent match in London.
The 25-year-old missed the first opportunity during the sixth over of England's innings. Phil Salt attempted a pull shot off a short-pitched ball from Mohammad but couldn't get a decent connection, managing only to get an edge. Khan stretched to his left but couldn't complete the catch, and the ball went for four.

Azam Khan missed a second catch in the 9th over of England's innings. Haris Rauf induced an outside edge from Will Jacks, but Azam couldn't hold onto the simple catch and failed to grab it on the second attempt as well. However, Haris Rauf dismissed Jacks in the following over for 20 runs off 18 deliveries.
The first and third T20Is of the series were affected by rain. Azam Khan managed only 11 runs across two innings at a disappointing average of 5.50 and a strike rate of 73.33. Khan scored just 88 runs in 13 T20Is at an average of 9.77. However, he secured a place in Pakistan's World Cup squad.
Azam Khan Will Be Criticized Whenever He Doesn't Perform - Salman Butt
Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt believes that Azam Khan will face criticism for his poor fitness whenever he fails to perform. Salman Butt urged Azam to focus on improving his fitness to prolong his career.
"Everything related to Azam Khan will be criticized whenever he doesn't perform. This is because what he presents is open to criticism. He invites criticism with the kind of fitness he carries. He had problems against the short ball," Butt said.
"People are going to speak about him. The way he got out today, his eyes were closed while facing the short ball, and then his wicketkeeping. His fitness is always going to be under the scanner. I think he has to decide on his career. He should work on his fitness, otherwise, it is going to be very difficult for him to play," he added.
