Time and again, Pakistan‘s Azam Khan has become the subject of ridicule because of his weight, but it has never stopped him from excelling on the cricket field. He showed it once again on Sunday (December 10) during the National T20 Cup final between Karachi and Abbottabad.
Asked to bat first, Karachi posted a competitive total of 155 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Khurram Manzoor top-scored for the Karachi outfit, scoring 55 runs off 37 balls with the help of 9 fours and a six. Omair Yousuf (36) and Danish Aziz (22) were the only other players who crossed the 20-run mark.
For Abbottabad, Shahab Khan was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 28 off his 4 overs while Adil Naz and Fayyaz Khan picked up 2 wickets each. With 155 runs to defend, Karachi had their task cut out against in-form Abbottabad. Abbottabad had registered scores of 205, 174, and 175 in their last three games.

Azam Khan takes a stunning catch:
Karachi had to dismiss Abbottabad’s in-form opener Sajjad Ali to boost their chances. The right-handed batsman had registered scores of 90, 60, and 57 in his last three outings. Karachi needed something special to get rid of the in-form opener and the moment of brilliance was provided by none other than Azam Khan.
The Abbottabad star could score just 1 run off 4 balls as he departed in the second over. On the last ball of the over, he went for a pull shot against a short delivery from Shahnawaz Dahani and ended up top-edging. Azam Khan boldly called for the catch while running backward and covered a big distance before taking the catch almost in front of a fine leg fielder with a superb somersault.

Abbottabad just could not recover after losing their in-form opener and eventually finished their innings on 146 for 9. At one stage, they were reeling at 71 for 6 before an unbeaten 43-run knock from Atizaz Habib Khan helped them end their innings with a respectable total.
