Pakistan’s white-ball captain and their batting mainstay, Babar Azam, has been going through a lean patch, and he yet again failed to deliver when his team needed most in the ongoing second and final Test against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

After failing to deliver in the first Test, scoring only 22 runs, the right-handed batter extended his series of poor scores in the second Test as well.

Babar somehow managed to go past the 30-run mark in the first innings of the crucial Test but fell to Shakib Al Hasan for just 31 runs off 77 balls.

Well, the story was not different in the second innings, as Nahid Rana, the young Bangladesh pacer who cleaned bowled Babar for 22 in the first Test, struck yet again and did a fantastic job for the tourists.

Babar’s struggles continued as he fell victim to the tall pacer once again in the Test series.

This time, it’s a short-of-length delivery outside off that tempted Babar into a loose shot away from his body in the first ball of the 18th over of Pakistan’s second innings.

The ball caught the edge and flew straight to Shadman Islam at the first slip, resulting in a straightforward catch. It was an unnecessary shot from Babar, who could have easily let the ball go, giving a significant blow to Pakistan.

Watch here how Babar fell to Rana:

The Pakistan skipper fell for just 11 runs off 18 balls while playing an unnecessary shot against Bangladesh, with the hosts reeling at 81/6 at the writing time. Meanwhile, Rana had delivered a game-changing blow, and Babae was cleaned bowled in the second innings of the first Test.

Nahid Rana vs Babar Azam battle becomes interesting

The young pacer couldn’t contain his delight after getting Babar out. Despite a drop catch by Litton Das earlier that cost them 22 runs, Rana made up for it with a full and fast delivery at 146.4 km/h just outside off.

Babar, lured into an ambitious drive, failed to account for the slight inward movement, resulting in a thick inside edge that crashed into the stumps. Interestingly, even in the previous delivery, Babar struggled, getting an inside edge on a similar attempt.

But this time, the ball was wider, forcing the Pakistani star to stretch for it and ultimately sealing his fate. His poor form became a headache for the Pakistan team, as they are on the verge of losing the humiliating home Test series to Bangladesh.

Recently, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif said that Babar is a skilled player, but he started charging the ball harder, which made his shot selection really tough. Latif added that the star batter always gets troubled tinkering with the ball going away from him.

He added, “Babar is literally failing to decide which ball to hit or leave. The entire problem in his batting lies here only.” Speaking about the match, Pakistan is currently leading by 129 runs in the ongoing crucial Test match, with Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha batting at 38 and 7 respectively against Bangladesh.
