Babar stepped down as the Test captain after the ICC World Cup 2023 and then the Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Shan Masood as the captain of the team. The left-hander took charge of the team during the Test series against the Australia National Cricket Team last year.
Under his leadership, Pakistan were close to winning games in Australia but they failed to cash in on the crunch moments. They ended up losing the series by the margin of 0-3.
Pakistan's white-ball team under the leadership of Babar Azam has been facing a lot of torrid defeats. They recently faced an early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and received a lot of criticism. But on the other hand, Shan Masood would be keen to make an impact in red-ball.
This will be Masood’s second assignment after being named captain last year. With the Bangladesh National Cricket Team series all set to take place at home, he will have a great opportunity to register his first win as the Test captain.
Babar will be the key factor for the Pakistan National Cricket Team going into the Test series against Bangladesh. Although he hasn't registered a single fifty in the longest format of the game since 2022, he would be keen to turn things around and make an impact.
