In a heartwarming crossover, the India National Cricket Team recently visited the training base of Manchester United, one of the most famous football clubs in the world. The two teams met at Carrington and enjoyed a memorable day filled with friendly banter, laughter, light training drills, and even a jersey exchange.
This special meeting was arranged by Adidas, and it quickly turned into a celebration of sportsmanship and mutual respect. Cricket and football may be very different games, but the players showed how much they admire each other’s skills and dedication.

Social media went crazy after the BCCI shared the glimpses from the memorable crossover. One of the funniest moments unfolded when the Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj acted like he was bowling to Harry Maguire, and the footballer, with a bat in hand, looked hilariously out of place, like a tailender trying to survive a bouncer.
On the other hand, Indian captain Shubman Gill even tried a bit of football juggling, while head coach Gautam Gambhir, a die-hard Manchester United fan, looked thrilled and enjoyed the atmosphere. Gambhir also posed with United manager Ruben Amorim.

In the video, Rishabh Pant was also seen giving goalkeeper Tom Heaton a quick lesson in wicketkeeping during India’s visit to Manchester United. Pant showed Heaton a few basic keeping drills, and both seemed to enjoy the light-hearted moment.
Meanwhile, the jersey swap was another standout moment. Indian players wore Manchester United’s red shirts, and the footballers proudly wore India’s Test whites, which showed the bond and respect between two great teams from two different sports.
Gill was seen having a serious conversation with United skipper Bruno Fernandes about their respective roles, while Gambhir chatted to counterpart Ruben Amorim.

Shubman Gill, Gautam Gambhir, and Kuldeep Yadav share elation
Sharing the experience, Shubman Gill said in the BCCI video, “It’s very exciting to be able to meet top athletes in the world from another sport; to get to know their stories is very inspiring. You’re playing two different sports, but the mindset that you play with is most of the time very similar.”
Gautam Gambhir said, “It was a nice interaction—what his ideology is towards team sport and what my ideology is towards team sport. The basic foundation of a team sport is very similar, where I feel that I think it’s the players that adapt to what the team needs rather than the team that adapts to a certain individual. That is the culture that we want to build.”
On the other hand, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav also enjoyed the experience and picked Amorim’s brains about his approach for the new season. Kuldeep said, “I was looking forward to talking to Ruben; I’ve been following him from Sporting. I asked him a few questions about the tactics and whether they’re going to stick with the 3-4-3 this season. I had a chance to chat with Casemiro about how I admire him as a player, and, yeah, it was very nice.”
An epic crossover 🔝
