The 21-year-old Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB-W) all-rounder Shreyanka Patil showcased her beast mode in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 final against Delhi Capitals Women (RCB-W) on Sunday, March 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Shreyanka Patil dominated with the ball in the high-voltage clash and moved to the top of the leading wicket-takers charts in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. She now has bagged 13 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 12.07, an economy of 7.30, and a strike rate of 9.92 with the best bowling figures of 4/12.

Shreyanka Patil registered her best bowling figures in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 final as she picked up the wickets of Meg Lanning, Minnu Mani, Arundhati Reddy, and Taniya Bhatia.

The highlight of Shreyanka Patil’s spell was the dismissal of Arundhati Reddy as she rattled the stumps of the batter. On the 2nd ball of the 19th over, Patil bowled a flighted delivery and it drifted into the pads. Arundhati was looking to play it towards the on-side but she was unsuccessful and got castled for 10 runs off 13 balls.

If there is a little turn, I feel I am a different beast – Shreyanka Patil

Speaking to the commentators after the match, the purple cap holder Shreyanka Patil said that she enjoyed her spell against DC-W. Shreyanka Patil also claimed that she becomes a beast whenever there is a spin on the surface. She said:

“I really enjoyed bowling in the middle. They got a really good start but we did not let our guard down. We said it was a matter of a wicket. When we got the first, it was about the next and we kept fighting. Enjoyed each and every moment of the first innings. There was something in the wicket. If there is a little turn, I feel I am a different beast.”

Shreyanka Patil further said spoke about her strapped hands and she also showered praise on Ellyse Perry. She said:

“(On her left hand being heavily strapped) Playing against MI in Bangalore, I got a hairline fracture. The team management and the physio team really worked hard to get me back on the field and huge credit to them. When I played against Australia, Pez (Perry) came up to me and told I would get a lot to learn from Sophie. Big match player and she turned up (tonight).”

Talking about the Meg Lanning-led side, just like the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), the 2023 season, Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) dominated and finished at the top to qualify directly for the final. The Meg Lanning-led side started off with the defeat against Mumbai Indians Women but it didn’t take them much time to bounce back strong.

DC-W were absolutely brilliant with their performance in the next few matches and they went on a 4-match winning streak, before losing a thriller to UP Warriorz by just one run. Delhi Capitals Women quickly forgot the loss and moved on to register two back-to-back wins to finish the league stage on high.
