Ben Stokes the England Test captain took a wicket early on to send jitters down the West Indies batting lineup after winning the toss in the first Test at Lord's.

The first ENG vs WI Test is underway at Lord's with this being the last Test for the veteran seamer James Anderson. England has had a perfect start to the game after winning the toss. They have taken three early wickets.

Debutant Gus Atkinson took two while skipper Stokes took one. He dismissed debutant Mikyle Louis for 27 off 58 balls after he opened the batting with the skipper Kraigg Brathwaite.

The ball from Stokes pitched on off and middle and came in with the angle. It left him just slightly enough to take the outside edge off the bat with Harry Brook taking a one-handed stunner at third slip. The reaction from Stokes was gold dust as he could not believe that Brook actually took that catch.

Nasser Hussain on commentary called the moment and the catch seemed more dramatic because of that. The television replays covered the catch from every and showed that it was a clean catch. The batter started walking immediately after the catch was taken not even waiting for the replay.

Meanwhile, this is the last Test match for Anderson. This is his 188th and last Test match. He is yet to pick up a wicket in this match but has a few milestones to look forward to. He is 13 short of 1000 international wickets and nine short of overtaking Shane Warne in the list of most wickets to go second on the list after Muttiah Muralitharan's 800.

Heading into this test match, the debutant Mikyle Louis scored 682 in seven matches in FC cricket averaging 48.7 with a strike rate of 49.13. He scored three hundreds and four fifteen with a best of 130. Given his recent stats, he was a big wicket that England needed to pick up early and they did exactly that.

"We are going to have a bowl. Exciting to see someone like Gus (Atkinson) and Jamie (Smith) to come in. Two guys who have a very high ceiling, very very talented. We are always looking to progress as a team. It has been a while since we have been together since that India tour. When you have time you have a chance to take a seat back and look at where you want to take the team. I am someone who doesn't want to standstill as a player and now being the leader I want to push the team as far as we can possibly go as well" said Stokes after winning the toss.
