As the Indian batsmen kept piling on England’s miseries in the second Test in Chennai, England all-rounder, Ben Stokes did found a moment to get the cheer of the fans, but without bat or ball in his hand. Indeed, his hands were upside down!

After lunch on Day 3, as the players walked out to the field to resume play, Ben Stokes near his fielding position in the slips performed a handstand. The crowd did applause him for his athleticism and for entertaining them with that stunt.

While Ben Stokes batted with alacrity in the first Test and smashed a quickfire 82 in the first innings then, he couldn’t put any notable performance in the first innings of the second Test.

The 29-year-old left-hander was bowled by a beauty from Ravichandran Ashwin in the first innings and could make only 18 runs. In the bowling, as well Stokes has had a quiet match; he bowled just a couple of overs in India’s first innings and didn’t bowl any overs in the second innings.

While people have made speculations that Stokes is carrying a niggle – Dan Lawrence was asked to bowl an over on Monday, but Ben Stokes didn’t – despite the England management denying that concern.

India set England a target of 482 runs after a hundred from Ashwin

After a fifty from Virat Kohli and a hundred from a local boy, R Ashwin, the visitors are been set a massive – improbable to even conceive chasing – a target of 482 runs in two-and-a-bit days. Considering England was bowled out for 134 runs inside 60 overs on Day 2, it is not a matter of if but when India levels the series.
