India‘s bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has become an inspiration and a role model for budding fast bowlers, not just in India, but across the world. Recently, a pacer in the European Cricket Championship was seen bowling with a run-up and action very similar to that of Jasprit Bumrah’s.

The video has gone viral of the budding pacer whose entire bowling procedure is akin to that of the Mumbai Indians seamer – the slow, short stuttering run-up, a little bend towards the left side, and then the bowling action with both arms going up, with the force exerted on the back while delivering the ball.

The user who posted the video on Twitter jokingly captioned it “Bumrah lite.” The video has so far gained over 9,000 views.

As for Jasprit Bumrah, the pacer is currently plying his trade for MI in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. In 11 matches this season, he has snapped up 16 wickets at an economy of 7.62. He will be key for MI’s chances of qualifying in the playoffs. After the IPL, he will be leading India’s bowling attack in the T20 World Cup.

Earlier, the Ahmedabad-born seamer was a significant contributor to India’s success in the Test series in England. After going wicketless during the WTC final versus New Zealand, Jasprit Bumrah returned to his best against England, bagging a 9-wicket match haul in the first Test at Trent Bridge.

In the fourth Test, he would rattle England’s middle-order with twin strikes on Day 5 at the Kennington Oval inspiring India’s victory. The series, for now, stands 2-1 after the fifth Test in Manchester was called off due to a covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp.

India will be playing a one-off Test on their tour to England next year. However, it’s yet to be decided whether that Test would be part of the series or a standalone game.
