One of the standout moments was Rohit’s playful gesture of tasting the Barbados pitch immediately after receiving the trophy from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. When asked by PM Modi about this action, the Indian skipper explained that it was a natural decision to savor the moment, as they had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

Rohit Sharma told PM Modi: “Where we got the win, I wanted to remember that moment. We played on that pitch and won the match there. We had all waited for that moment. Many times, it came so close, but we couldn't go ahead. This time, because of everyone, we achieved it, and that pitch was special to me. So, in that moment, it happened.”

Furthermore, PM Modi also asked about Rohit's viral Ric Flair strut, mimicking the legendary wrestler, as he walked to collect the T20 World Cup trophy. Even the Indian PM also pulled the leg of Yuzvendra Chahal by asking whether it was the leg-spinner's idea.

It left one and all to burst into laughter as Rohit revealed that the Indian team had discussed doing something memorable to mark their long-awaited World Cup triumph. The Indian skipper admitted that it was both Kuldeep Yadav's and Chahal’s idea to do some kind of celebration as a tribute to their perseverance and dedication throughout the tournament in the USA and West Indies.

Rohit said, “It was such a big moment for all of us. And all of us have been waiting for this for so many years. So, the boys told me, don't go just like that. Do something different.” Then, PM Modi quipped, “So was this Chahal's idea?” and Rohit agreed by saying both “Chahal and Kuldeep.”

Rishabh Pant recalls PM Modi’s support during his recovery

Meanwhile, Mr. PM also talked about Rishabh Pant’s recovery from a horrific car accident and how he went on to become the T20 World Cup champion. He said that Pant’s recovery journey was very tough, and as a player, being able to recover in a crucial time was fantastic. Mr. PM also said that he was used to seeing Pant’s social media posts.

Pat told PM Modi: “Sir, behind this was a normal thought. I had an accident 1.5 years ago. So, it was a very tough time. I remember you calling my mother. So, a lot of things were going on in my mind. But when you called, my mother told me. Sir said there was no problem. Then I relaxed a lot.”
