Lucknow Super Giants lost a precious review during their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday (May 19) following a chaotic turn of events.

The incident took place in the third over of SRH's innings when pacer Akash Deep was bowling to Ishan Kishan. On the last ball of the over, Akash Deep fired one down the leg side. Kishan wanted to work the ball on the leg side but could not make any contact. The ball went behind the stumps and was caught by Rishabh Pant.

The LSG players appealed for a caught behind, but the umpire gave his decision in the batsman's favour. At the same time, the umpire did not signal a wide, and it might have convinced Rishabh Pant and his teammates that they had their man.

Rishabh Pant took his time but eventually decided to review the umpire's decision. In the meantime, Kishan also took a review for a wide. There was confusion all around before the umpires clarified that Rishabh Pant's review was sent upstairs.

Rishabh Pant flops with the bat:

Earlier in the game, Rishabh Pant's poor run with the bat continued as the LSG skipper fell for a single-digit score. After Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh shared a century-plus stand for the opening wicket, Pant decided to promote himself ahead of Nicholas Pooran.

However, the move did not pay off as he was out for just 7 runs. Meanwhile, LSG finished their innings on 205/7. Marsh and Markram starred with the bat for the Lucknow-based outfit. Marsh scored 65 runs while Markram scored 61 as they added 115 runs for the first wicket.

Apart from Marsh and Markram, Pooran was the only other LSG batter to reach double digits. The West Indies star scored 45 runs off 26 balls. For SRH, Eshan Malinga took 2 wickets for 28 runs.

With the bat, SRH were on 120/2 after 10 overs at the time of writing this report. Opener Abhishek Sharma scored a whirlwind fifty to give his team a flying start. Before being dismissed by Digvesh Rathi, Sharma scored 59 runs off just 20 balls.
