Charli Knott, on Friday (October 27), bowled a sensational delivery to pick up a wicket in the ongoing game between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League.
Asked to bat first, the Heat finished their innings with a competitive total of 150 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Grace Harris and Ellie Johnston gave them a good start by adding 49 runs for the first wicket before both of them departed in quick time to leave their side 2 down for 51.
The likes of Mignon du Preez (8), Jess Jonassen (4), and Bess Heath (2) failed to get going with the bat and the Heat found themselves reeling at 99 for 5 at one stage. Georgia Voll and Charli Knott then shared a crucial 43-run stand to take their team to a challenging total. Kim Garth broke the stand by dismissing Charli Knott for 31. Her knock came off just 14 balls and contained 4 fours and 2 sixes. Voll, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 48.
Charli Knott’s brilliant delivery:
After her heroics with the bat, Charli Knott was given the responsibility to deliver with the ball and the 20-year-old did not disappoint. She was asked to bowl the very first over by captain Jess Jonassen and she delivered in the very first over.
On the fourth ball of the over, she clean bowled Sophia Dunkley with a peach of a delivery to give her team the first breakthrough. Dunkley’s reaction after being bowled said it all. The ball had landed well outside the off stump and the right-handed batter went for a cut. But before she could execute the shot, the ball turned in sharply and went on to crash into the stumps, leaving the batter utterly shocked.
