Veteran Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim didn’t go easy on Sri Lanka after his team won the ODI series. The keeper-batter mocked the opposition team with the ‘broken helmet strap’ celebration during the trophy collection ceremony.
Mushfiqur Rahim played a vital role in Bangladesh winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He played a valiant knock for his team in the series decider and made sure that he took his team past the finishing line when they were struggling to get going against the opposition.
In the chase of 236 runs, Bangladesh lost some early wickets and were struggling in the middle phase. However, the arrival of Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease brought a sense of calm to the team as he held the one end and made sure that he didn’t let the game drift away from the team.
Mushfiqur Rahim came to bat when Bangladesh were struggling at 130/5. However, he stood tall for his team and eased into the innings. The senior batter played a vital hand and took his team to the series win. He looked rock solid while others around him played attacking cricket.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten at 37 runs off 36 balls. He slammed three fours and 1 six in his innings. He hit the winning shot as Bangladesh won the game with 4 wickets in hand and sealed the series by the margin of 2-1, having lost the T20I series early.
While his knock was applauded by many, he stole the limelight with his antics during the trophy celebration. While the entire team was seen waiting for skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto to get the trophy, Mushfiqur Rahim came up with his helmet.
The keeper-batter broke the strap of his helmet and replicated Angelo Matthews’s gestures when he was livid after Bangladesh appealed for time out. Mushfiqur Rahim with his gestures left the entire team in splits.
